It is alleged that the employees are not getting their salaries on time. It is being told that the employees of Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC), a government undertaking, have to work by paying half their salary.
The regular and contractual employees of PRTC have received half the salary for the month of August on September 9, while the outsourced employees have not received the salary till September 10. According to the employees, the Punjab government has to give Rs 175 crore of PRTC to women in lieu of free bus travel in government buses and if they get this money, then it will be easy for the employees to pay their salaries on time.
One month’s bill is about 25 crores
There are 4250 employees in PRTC and there are about 4800 pensioners and a month’s bill on giving salary and pension to them is about 25 crores. About Rs 25 to 30 crores per month is the bill for the free bus facility given to women.
