Kunal Kamra Gurugram Show: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has submitted a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram to cancel a show by comedian Kunal Kamra to be held in Gurugram on September 17. Vishwa Hindu Parishad said that Kunal Kamra makes fun of Hindu deities, which may create tension in Gurugram. On this, now a reaction has also come from Kunal Kamra’s side.
Kunal Kamra tweeted, “He makes fun of our culture which we claim, he makes fun of our gods what we think, we have no proof, but his performance disturbs our peace. Yes, 12 of us don’t want the show to happen and 500 have got tickets to watch it, so what should the officials do? (UPSC Question 10 Marks)”.
What did Vishwa Hindu Parishad say?
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad said that Kamra makes fun of Hindu gods and goddesses, which can create a tense situation in the district. He further wrote that VHP and Bajrang Dal members will protest if the show is not cancelled. Kunal Kamra is going to perform at Studio EXO Bar, Sector-29, Gurugram. According to the Indian Express, some members of two right-wing outfits had visited the bar on Wednesday and asked the management to cancel the event.
However, an official of Oriol Entertainment, an entertainment agency involved in organizing the show, said “the show has been cancelled”. At the same time, Kamra said that he has not received any message from the organizers yet. In recent months, some shows by comedian Munawar Faruqui were also canceled due to similar controversies. Farooqui recently did a show in Hyderabad amid tight security provided by the administration in Telangana.
