Jatiya Party (JPA) Chairman Gholam Mohammad (GM) Quader has again nominated Mustafizar Rahman as the party candidate for the post of mayor in the Rangpur City Corporation elections.
On Monday (October 3), the JPA chairman made the announcement while visiting Rangpur.
This is his first visit to Rangpur after Japa’s top two leaders were dismissed from all posts in the party.
It is known that GM Quader announced Mostafizar Rahman as the candidate by raising his hand in the joint committee meeting of the district and metropolitan Jappa at the party office located on the central road of the city last evening.
Mostafizar Rahman is a member of the presidium of the central committee of the party and the president of Rangpur metropolis.
Meanwhile, JPA Chairman and Deputy Leader of Opposition in Jatiya Sangsad GM Quader arrived at Syedpur Airport at 12 noon on Monday from Dhaka on a five-day visit. When he reached Rangpur Circuit House, he was greeted with flowers by the leaders and workers of the party.
While talking to the journalists earlier, JAPA chairman said that the overall situation of the country is very fragile. The political situation is unstable. Election ahead. But I don’t understand whether all parties will participate in the election, whether the election will be free and fair.
Regarding the dissolution of the party, the Chairman of Jatiya Party said that many people expressed interest in electing a party. We choose one of them. Mustafizar Rahman will be nominated for the post of mayor in Rangpur city elections.
GM Quader said in response to the questions of the journalists about the formation of alliance in the elections, no decision has been taken in this regard yet. However, the support given to the Awami League government has not been reflected in reality. What this government is doing after coming to power is one degree higher than BNP. We want that to change.
Mostafizar Rahman, district Jatiya Party convener Abul Masud Chowdhury, member secretary Abdur Razzak, Metropolitan Jatiya Party general secretary SM Yasir and other leaders were present.
