Three youths were killed in a race between two motorcycles in front of the highway police in Kushtia. The accident took place near Battail Ansar camp on the Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway around 9 pm on Friday. Another person was injured at this time.
The deceased are Jewel (25) of Mohini Mill area of Kushtia city and Farooq Mistry (24) son of Shaukat Ali of Kumargara area and Rahul (20) son of Manohar Sheikh. Biplab (20) from Chaudhas area of the suburbs who was seriously injured was rushed to Dhaka with first aid treatment at Kushtia General Hospital.
Kushtia Highway Police OC Idris Ali confirmed the incident and said that around 9 pm, four youths were coming towards Kushtia on two motorcycles. At this time they compete to go faster than each other. At one point, two motorcycles collided with cargo near the oil Ansar camp on the Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway. Two people died on the spot and one after going to the hospital.
It is known that Idris Ali, the in-charge of the highway police, while on highway patrol, saw the three youths playing a motorcycle race.
When the media persons asked OC Idris Ali why he did not stop the youths, he avoided it. On hearing the news of this tragic accident, a large crowd of men and women rushed to the Kushtia 250-bed hospital premises to see the young men.
