Former caretaker government advisor, former secretary and eminent economist. Akbar Ali Khan’s funeral will be held at Azad Mosque in Gulshan after Friday. After that, he will be buried in the Martyr Intellectual Cemetery of Mirpur.
Akbar Ali Khan’s grandson Ashikuzzaman confirmed this information to the media. Earlier, he died while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital around 10 pm on Thursday. Akbar Ali Khan was born in 1944 in Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria. This distinguished economist studied history at Dhaka University (DU). After that, he did his PhD in economics at Queen’s University in Canada. He also did PhD research in economics.
Akbar Ali Khan was also a teacher along with his main career as a bureaucrat. Retired as Cabinet Secretary. After that he taught in two universities. Became an adviser to the caretaker government, resigned in the face of obstruction in the performance of his duties.
After retirement, he emerged as a full-time writer. His treatises on economics, history, sociology, literature and various other subjects are widely appreciated by the readers.
