BNP Standing Committee member and former State Minister for Power Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku joked in an immediate reaction that various areas of the country, including the capital Dhaka, were without electricity from noon due to the disaster in the national grid, saying that this is the example of the development of this government. He said this in a response on Tuesday (October 4) around 5 pm.
The former Minister of State for Power said, as far as I understand, the main reason for the disaster in the national grid is that all the grids are not well synchronized. As a result of which such power failure occurs.
He also said that there is no internet because there is no electricity at home. As a result communication is stopped.
Power outage has started in the eastern part of the country including Dhaka and Chittagong since noon. Power, Energy and Mineral Resources State Minister Nasrul Hamid said on his verified Facebook page that power supply has been restored in many areas.
The state minister said that due to tripping of the national grid, power supply was interrupted in a large area of eastern region including Dhaka and Chittagong from 2:04 PM today. The engineers of the power department are working tirelessly to solve this sudden problem. Electricity supply has already been activated in some areas. Hope power supply will be normal in all areas soon.
Nasrul Hamid expressed regret for the power outage and said, “I am sorry for the temporary inconvenience to everyone and request patience.”
